What it really takes to be a reader ??
Since childhood I have always been surrounded by readers . Everyone in my family loves to read . I thought reading was for ‘nerds’ and dismissed it as boring and monotonous, until i discovered its calmness. My journey of becoming a reader was an accident. I still remember when I was preparing for my examination,it was in my curriculum to read newspapers everyday and which was the hardest part . I was dedicated doing everything to cover the syllabus but reading was not in my genre. The procrastination ended when I noticed something was off with my preparation.
. https://pin.it/4yx46DmbyI knew I wasn’t a reader, but I also knew I couldn’t give up.
The actual scene :
One morning I woke up and went to the balcony. The sun was shining and I held the newspaper in my hands. Sitting on a chair, I opened it and went straight to the ‘Entertainment’ section, focusing on Bollywood news, which I enjoyed. I knew that it’s better to read something which gives me joy rather than force myself and make an even worse relationship with reading.
Day by day, I increased the length of the articles I read.
Week by week, I explored new genres like economics and politics.
Month by month, I transitioned from articles to essays and, eventually, to books.
In the end I realised that the maximum it takes to start something is to take the first step.
dear readers, what was your experience with reading?
